Picked up a 1.5 yards of gravel in the single - the gravel yard guy estimated it to be 4200lbs of payload.

The guy at the rock-and-gravel yard thought I was crazy when I asked for a full yard of 1/2" crushed crock. He told me there was no way a VW could carry that much. By the time I picked up the 3rd load, he had to accept the fact that, yes, a 1600cc engine can haul ~2800 lbs of rock.

24 pieces of 20' 1/2 rebar proved to be too much for my repro westy rack crossbar. And yes, I had a flag on the end of it.

The panel sure comes in handy for Home Depot runs; the double cab bed makes a nice workbench in the field, Tom had just helped a friend move with his single cab.

Used the bus to bring home an 18' header for the new garage. The 'rack' is a repro westy rack that I bought for parts.

Picked up 100 paving stones @ HD today. They weigh about 19lbs each, so that's 1900lbs worth of payload.

1969, stills runs very nice in deep snow,has a 1600 Ducth Motor with all new parts... just purrs plus Gas Heater, my Fater picked it up New in 1969. Will be doing a full restore soon

Ongoing 59 DD project. This bus is IRS'd with dropped spindles and a 1600 sp dual carbs. Since starting the project I've collected OG Hurst Bumpers, full rack, KPH speedo, factory safaris and NOS front and rear lighting. As of Jan 2003, it just needs paint!
