Something about this pic just begs mocking! I guess the artist doesn't suffer from VW on the brain.

Since everyone was talking about deals on Busses I thought I'd add mine. I drive a 62 Kombi daily, but several months ago I heard of a 55 Bus not too far from me but was told there was no way I could get it as others had tried for years. Well to make a really long story short, the Bus turned out to be a 54 Kombi, which aside from some questionable bodywork was very original (perfect middle and rear seats, fuel dipstick, crank, etc all still there) and except for the missing engine, was complete. So with the excellent help of my friend Tim we wrenched it out of where it sat since the mid to late 60's. The total cost of this Bus was $80.00, the owner actually wanted 75 but I only had 4 20's on me, and asking for the 5 in change just seemed wrong. I made a crappy site with some pics I took of it and you can find them here:

From ebay:
Restored 1960 Westphalia Camper. !960 was the first production year of these camper vans and this one is a beauty! It was parked for twelve years prior to 1995 when I started restoration work on it. This very unique van boasts features like a rebuilt Porche 911 engine, a modified VW type four transmission, Treasure chest top, Vacumn boost brakes, all birch interior and over THREE THOUSAND dollars in CHROME TRIM! To complete the look this van has also been lowered all the way around and outfitted with low profile tires with Porche 356 hub caps. Since the restoration in 1995 I have only put six thousand miles on it. This van is one of a kind! Don't let it get away!

09/20/02 Senior Sanchaz This is the earliest known Chevrolet Westphalia in existance. It is a 1935 and has rare conversion package number 7 featuring 26 and a half windows and Safari doors. It features quad barndoors (two on each side) and semaphore headlights. Will sell for $92,324 or may consider trade for 1996 Geo Metro.

12/17/02 Pete I'll pay $2500 for this sweet sweet car.
06/15/02 Conrad Well, someone liked it. I saw that someone bought it for $10,000. But the stories I heard about this beast, the owner was probably glad to get rid of it.
06/15/02 po0 poo Hey stupid...`51 was the first year fro westfalias...and that is if you could even call this hunk of nightmare a westfalia.

Yes it was a westfalia at one time, and no it is not now. That interior is some junk not the original westy interior...

Kids educate yourselves before buying a bus or this could be the results!
06/13/02 Bo Powell I'm not sure of how to navigate this site... where is this vehicle? How much? It's a beaut!!
