The pride of San Diego County. The "Roadster" took first place in the Barndoor Convertible Class and Josh's "El Ghiablo" took first in the "Bus with a Heavy Ghia Influence" Class. Enjoy your trophies gentlemen and tell those tourists to stop snapping photos!

Don't worry, this Bus started as a $7.31 investment. We traded a six pack of shitty beer for it and we made our vision a reality.

01/11/03 Conrad I almost did this to my bus when I was 16 - and glad I didn't. Although I would have been the most popular guy at school, I would have regretted it. BUT if I had a tree fall on my crew cab, I'd probably take care of it this way.
01/11/03 Conrad Hey, can you imagine when I was 16 I thought about doing this to my bus. Though I would have been the most popular guy in high school - I'm glad I didn't. But maybe this is the solution to that crew cab that had the tree fall on it.
01/09/03   I don't know what this thing was? It looks like it was a barndoor, but it doesn't have the 8 vents like a barndoor should. It is probably hacked together from many busses. If I owned it I wouldn't park it anywhere, It might get accidentaly towed to the wreckers
01/08/03 VanBondo Ah yeah, I had a gray one! Sa-weet =)
12/26/02   You should be destroyed.

Surf Bus Found Surf Bus Found

A very cool acquisition of Da Surf Team is the recent saving of a SurfBus from nature. It's a VW Panorama Bus T2a from early 1970, which we'll need for the surfgear and the future big trips to check out surfspots! It already has an expedition roof rack from front to end, to comfortably fit all surfgear! The bus is currently being stripped for a rebuilding (...) process, which should hopefully be finished before summer 2002, when we plan to start touring. The bus apparently has been driving in Europe since roll-out in april 1970, somehow was exported to USA for several years, but came back home in the 80's. Looking at the picture, you can see that the bus was very much surrounded by nature at the spot we discovered it, yes stuff like this still happens (we might take the LandRover Defender 110 LWB standing next to it as well!). The bus has apparantly had a hippie history in its early years, as beneath the black/white we discovered many painted flowers, plants and fishes!! The black paint however turned out to be ship-tar, so anyone who knows how to get this of our holy car, please mail! Check out DaSurf.com in the future as we'll keep you updated of the complete restoration proces of the SurfBus for you surfaddicts! Everybody wants a bus!

01/13/03 Jeremy [DaSurf.com] This bus has been driving in the USA in the 70's/80's. Anyone recognising the bus, please mail us!!
After removing the black tar, we discovered many painted fish and seeweed/plants/flowers. The front was sprayed metallic blue with fish.
Any info would be welcome!!
Jeremy

This is my new 1964 Standard. I found it in New Brunswick Canada. It is very rusty but is about 95% complete. The largest problem areas are the large roof dent, the rockers, cargo floor, rear corners, and the shot gun blast to the rear quarter. I am planning an eventual restoration.

10/24/02 Jules I'd check that the dude with the shotgun still does not bear it a grudge. before sinking lifesavings into it!!??
10/24/02 Mark Alright Chris, another bus saved! Looks like you have a good start, looking forward to the "progress" pic's along the way- make sure to post them! Mark.
10/24/02 Chris Boyne GT55- I would agree with you if I lived in the United States or in Central Canada but in the Eastern Maritime Provinces of Canada, Split Windows are basically non existant- so finding a East Coast bus even in this condition is rare.
10/24/02 gf55 I'd strip all the parts from this bus and put them on a cleaner 64 that needs them! Good luck!
