| 05/12/02 | body shop rob | In WA state, no smog test is needed to licence your vehicle if its 25 or older. Vintage or not it makes it easier to own more than one Type II if you don't have to take the emissions test. My bay window is ugly but drives like a Caddy. My splitty is beautiful and rides like a lumber wagon. I love them both. |

| 05/12/02 | body shop rob | Your bus sounds like my 66 Standard with rot in all the usual places. I'm doing a mild restoration by welding new metal to patch the holes but I'm not using factory floors or panels. If you are looking for NOS or OEM parts check VW wrecking yards in your area for doner busses. Its the most cost efficient way to FINISH your project. I'm using mild steel plate to repair the rot on my bus because I want to spend the money on the engine, brakes etc. If you wait around for obsolete or expensive parts you may lose interest or not even finish your project. |
