08/17/02 Brad The glass is all the same. The front ones just look a little different because of the metal work in the cab is different than down the side.

08/16/02 Captian Turnpike Great work Dude! Alot of effort is really paying off. Quick question, Can you tell if there is any difference in the front roof windows vs the ones down the body? Contour or anything?

09/11/02 Spengdog Must be something in the Anglesey air!
09/10/02 Jules Dudes have lost the plot methinks
09/10/02 Spengdog Jules, what are you giving these people?
09/09/02 Daddy Ah Tbonz, reminds me of the time when way back in front of the clinic I met your flowing haired toothless mamma. The essence of patchuli oil and unwashed hair. The fond memories I have of her giving me my first hashish enema as her chapped lips exhaled the silver smoke directlly into my awaiting anus, my fingernails ripping into the headliner of my '56 hippy love machine. Of course Rare Earth was wrenching and straining every inch of paper cone suface of the stock speakers as the 1st, 2nd,3rd,and 4th tracks wizzed by on the old 8 track player. Then as we cruised up north to Monterey, I'll never forget the sight of your mother on her knees anxiouslly awaiting her reward for minutes of hard work for another couple of bucks to push our pursuits further north. But by far my fondest memories are of the night you were concived, although I was one of seven, I adopted you as my own seeing how I was in the deepest. Sadly though, I miss your mother and long for the ride up the cost again. Maybe a father son trip?.............call me
Love Dad
09/08/02   somebody's been hitting the crack pipe...
09/08/02 jules WHAT???
09/08/02 tbonz "blasted " in reference to a VW bus is what you do
in the back of it with this really beautiful
"long hair -a- flowin" dutch babe you just met in
front of the American Express office in
Damns Square! You putted your 67 bus over to park it outside the
club "Paradise" You recently purchased it from other
American students from Boston for $400. American (in '71)
and decide to crash out in the back on some tapestry pillows
to wait for the warehouse bar it to open....Besides your digging
"Meis" now and you want get to know her BETTER! Your a good host
so you're carving a chunk of "gouda kass" onto a couple of
hard rolls to dine her... a crack open a brewery fresh green "Heinbrewskes""
to wash it all down with and "to wine her!"
your lady and you are just nesting cozy into
listening to Ten Years After's "Cricklewood Green"
casette tape on you Pioneer player you brought from
home in your backpack.... Dutch -Indonesians are so exotic
she reaches into her suede leather fringed bag and
breaks out this "slab" of black primo and her "chilum""
Meis then pinches some "Drum"from a pouch and puts
it on my frisby (manditory traveling device), stikes a wooden match off my R.Crumb
"Keep on truckin'" belt buckle and heats up a piece of
the hash... crumbling it into the tabacco mix.
Tamps the mixture into the funnel shaped "stone"ware
ceramic pipe... then has me...."YA.... U" "lite for me?"
and expertly draws a slow hit off the funnel as she "cups"
both of her "island" pretty brown hands to form a chamber working it like a siren's birdcall, she puffs it...up
waifs the pungent exotic incense like curls
of blue smoke... and stoking a deep hit and looking at me with
seductive brown eyes... she leaned over to blow me a
big deep hit as she kissed me! WE practiced that a little more...believe me when I tell you now! She PUMPED me up!
and I got "Blasted"...she blew my mind! She camped that summer
with me all through Europe, We fell in love. We were 2o yrs. old....4.5 Glders to the $ Snorkling Down the Spanish coast...Tossa de Mar. Casablanca,Paris,Bern (and never hit England! eh mate!)
I married her... we shipped the bus (cargo van) back to L.A. for $500
Kept it through grad school. Traveled the states in it. We had to
know life with others after 15 yrs.and parted. still friends. We were the counter culture... still a hippie!(be a stoner for a day if I had the primo!) And just one of thousands of people who are and have romantic life experiences in a "bus"!cool VW story
...any free spirits want to do ENGLAND....Amsterdam? Morrocco? I am game and take my 70 Westy with us! Just burned a fresh copy of "Quicksilver" the black album....
any trekking wander lusting ladies inquire here!
08/17/02 Thom Wiring loom *first*
Then the headliner, before the roof glass
then handles, etc
then the rest of the rubber
knobs, switches
then rest of the interior
08/16/02 Julian Dalton all settled then,
so back to the busses.
Any body out there got some kind of schedule for putting this baby back together. i am somewhat daunted by the amount of bits i have lying around. I was gonna start with new looom??? Any do's and dont' Welcome. E me. do not fancy getting loads on & find i have to rip it again. know there is plenty of experience out there. Cheers
08/16/02 Spengdog Who's Spendog? No matter, what you fail to understand, is that I have been taking the piss out of the fools that waste their time criticising Julian. Personally I don't give a monkeys what Julian does to his bus. The bottom line is, he likes it, and it's going to look great when it's done, and yes, another one is preserved, which can only be good. Pedantic I may be, a fool I am not, and surely people can tell the difference between good natured banter and antagonistic criticism. Plus, I don't think it is a US v UK thing. From what I've seen on this site and others, both nations have their share of idiots, but in the main, people care about their cars, applaud good workmanship and repect the likes and dislikes of others. The forum was surely started as a medium for information exchange, sharing the benefit of our experiences and finding inspiration. Let's not let it slip into something more sinister.
08/15/02 Not Spendog Sorry Julian, I'm from the UK and my sarcasm was directed at Spendog the pendantic fool (I thought we invented sarcasm). I think your bus looks great.

(They also sent over several thousand men many of whom lost their lives fighting on our side - I think most brits appreciate that.)
08/15/02 a friendly american good comeback, this guy's a total knob and i hope i speak for all of us on this side of the pond.
08/15/02 Julian Dalton Jesus, do you ever get of one's case? Thought we Brits had a 'special relationship' with the yanks.
Didn't you send over a few ships crammed full of fags, gum and winter woolies to help us purge Europe of the evil Nazi scourge? You rip into guys you do not even know. Then wonder why half the world is lining up to kick your butt. where is that famous American politeness
08/15/02 Not Spendog When you say 'blasted' do you mean you blasted off some of the original iron molecules (in the form of iron oxide) from the steel? You, my dear sir, should be shot.

08/15/02 Chris Julian thank-you for continueing to post and continueing to defend yourself espeically with all the negative creiticism you have been receiving. I think it is great that you saved your bus from being scrapped or crushed. I also like how you are keeping the general look of your bus stock by using factory colors and not doing any custom mods like lowering.
08/15/02 Julian Dalton Roof was grafted on out of neccessity. (believe me i could have done without the expense) I am trying to preserve a bus. Colours are original.(SR & BGR) I have not slammed it. Have kept 6V Elecs on the origanl 60000m engine. She had been standing for 26years!!
08/15/02 Jacob Interesting comment. Why would a part be less desirable to an owner of a bus, that has some modification?
08/15/02 Dan Why can't a custom have a vintage theme? Just wondering.
Anyone that puts wide whitewalls on their stock bus has surely made a custom if it didn't come from the factory with them.
08/15/02 Mike This is one thing that really puzzles me. Why do people who graft roofs, lower there buses, paint there buses non stock colors? Strive to find rare and desirable parts and accessories? Wouldn't your custom bus benfit from some vitaloni mirrors?
