Third owner of panel. Brother John, now living in Orlando, FL, cut a foot behind the wrecked '70 panel and spliced another back section to the front. In the process of finishing the interior.

'RED TIDE' 'RED TIDE' 'RED TIDE'

This is our first bus and it is a 1968 westfalia custom.. We are restoring the camper on every plane, and learning as we go on. We are preparing her for a road trip from SoCal to Vancouver. The Name "Red Tide" originates from the first nite we slept in her at the Beach. Her color also resembles a very close shade of the Tide........ Hope to see you on the way up North!

Here is a bus that used to belong to my uncle, and sat in our yard forever.. I hacked it to bits with an axe, and after removing the roof and the nose, folded up the rest like a chinese food container. What fun!

I got both these bus for $1,500. I had gone to see just a '72 with no engine for $800... The guy was also selling his '78 for $1,100... How could I refuse? The '78 is very complete... The '72 needs work, but I have the engine and most parts except the back seat and middle passenger seat...

Here is a good example of the fugly Brazilian baysplit hybrid assembled by VWSA from 1976-78. It was a budget model sold alongside German bays, and it replaced the 1975 Fleetline (throwback splittie) as VWSA's budget Type2.

Here is a pair of Autovillas. The one with the roof extension over the cab is a later model. The Jurgens Autovilla was built by a South African caravan builder on a hacked down bay-window walkthru panelvan. They made about 1000 of these between about 1973-77. They were approved by VWSA and were sold new from VW dealer showrooms. Karmann also built a licensed version of the design with LHD for Europe.
