I came up with the bright idea to use sheet metal screws and some creative clamping to pull the b-pillar out to meet the driver's side panel; previously it was kind of "sunk" in. I lined it up, then locked it in place with the screws; next I have to weld it in place.

Well, had a good spell on the 54 at the weekend, removed the gearbox/drive shafts etc., managed to get the front beam off (eventually), painted under all the wheel arches etc.

I've spent several hours over the past few days trying to get this piece lined up. The problem is the panel itself is tweaked, so trying to get this support piece in hasn't been easy. My concern is that if I don't get this panel lined up and straight now, it will be wavy beyond redemption when it comes time to do the final body work.

Note how the roof was replaced with a metal frame, and some fabric was stretched over it.
