How rare is this little beauty! and I thought that there were only two rhd, double loading door, barn door, panel vans on this planet, (both from Kent in the UK), how wrong I was!! The chassis number is -20-078333-

01/09/03 The majority Listen. Its a 1966 model. whos GIVES a fuck what he does to it. Cut it up, part it out, chop it up, lower it down or bag it. Better yet turn it into a barndoor.... oh wait, thats what he decided to do. Sounds like the best option out of the list, dont you agree? Damn late models.
He's even appealing to the vintage nazis and instead of using up old stock of rare parts, hes MAKING his own barndoor parts, This guy rules.
10/25/02 ben ok alex, let me re-phrase it, if you wanna call the buffers out there vintage nazis then cool , fine, stating that ALL buffers cant weld hmmm depends how you take it, a lot of buffers are restorers its up to the individual how they interpret the term, im not trying to cause arguments or dischord, BUT, having read so many posts on here which start off innocent and in a , this is cool "what do ya think of my/this/her van" topic, all hell seems to break loose, leaving the person who posted it wondering why they ever did in the first place.
NO OFFENCE INTENDED.
krokus, cool bus dude, keep it up.
10/22/02 Alexk Ben and Charles - You two are Fricking idiots! To insinuate that vintage "nazis" cannot weld or do their own work is moronic. It just shows that when someone's opinion differs from your own, you resort to insults. Pathetic.
10/22/02 Ben What an awesome job, listen dude dont let the purist piss on your bonfire, i rekon theyre just jelous that they couldnt even weld let alone take on such an extreme project, it is the DON.
Never seen such a hardcore piece of engineering keep at it.
09/28/02 Charles Do what you want man! They're jealous because they don't even know which end of the welder to use, and their shop is a polebarn with tarps thrown on it. I say now you can slam it, but a huge motor in it, and the vintage Nazi's can't say crap.
09/13/02 jules go for it Rokus. OOOHH you have
09/12/02 Smitty Great Job...wish I had that kind of skills to redo my 67 21 Window Deluxe.. Keep up the good work and keep us posted with updated Pics....
09/12/02 dunc Impressive. Lots of changes to go yet, don't forget that vertical rear bulkhead over the engine bay, wide front arches, arrow ribbed front divider, tubed gearbox hanger....etc etc...good luck.
09/11/02 Tyler Rokus, go with it, some people can buy them, some people can build them, looks like you got a nice shop to work in, make that bus yours, it will deffinately be a one-of-a-kind, how many of these "stock guys" can say that about their buses, good luck and have fun
09/11/02 Dan Why not build it? the metal is scratch built the bus was a junker. Some people like making things. Others like buying complete buses then whining when they find a repro part on it.
09/11/02 Sid Vicious You do a little welding and spray some paint and now you use the word "restore". This bus is custom.
09/11/02 Spengdog Here we go again! Rokus, I hope you've got thick skin, don't lose any sleep over all the negative comments you're going to get. Enjoy your resto' then enjoy your bus. Nice garage!
09/10/02 Sean Yah, but Brendan, How much will it cost you to complete it? Bumpers, 16" wheels, tail lights, divider, paint, ect. Not a bad bus but not all complete either, and it's a panel.
09/10/02 Rokus I do it just for the fun

and i am a mad boy???
09/10/02 Rokus This is just for the fun.

And yes i am a mad boy???
09/10/02 Brendan This doesn't make a damn bit of sense when Mark Merz STILL has that '54 Panel, turnkey, for just $6K. Give yourself $5 for every hour of your time, not to mention all the nightmare headaches you will certainly encounter and you will certainly far surpass that price. Are Barndoors so sacred now that we must make fakes like they did with Porsche Speedsters?
09/10/02 Dave Hope you post pictures of it when it's done.
09/10/02 Kev Coz then he can do un-original things to it without being bitched at by miserable farts.
09/10/02 Dan Incredible! When does mass production begin?
09/09/02 Sid Vicious Dear Sir,
I would like to inform you that you have just wasted a great deal of time and money. Why not just restore a real barndoor.

A friend and I just purchased this project. Lots of bondo cracking on the outer lower pannels above the rockers. Cargo floor, jack supports and stringers must all be replaced. Neither of us have a welder to use but want to keep the costs down and do the work ourselves. Any suggestions on how to cut out the old bondo and rusted cargo floor to prep for welding? Thanks

08/30/02 Dirk Here's a trick for removing old Bondo that I picked up from a body repair tech. Use a torch and heat up the Bondo from behind, if you have access, then you can use a putty knofe and just scrape it right off. I had a bunch of old Bondo on the front of my bus, I couldn't get behind all of it, so I heated sooome up from in front, and it peeled right off. Please be careful not to set anything on fire, be aware of your suroundings, wiring and such, and keep a fire extinguisher handy.
