Here is a shot of my '66 Deluxe with a 5 foot stuffed giraffe poking his head through the sunroof. When I saw the giraffe at a flea market I couldn't resist. Now my bus is called the "Giraffe Transporter."

Has anyone seen another one of these ? Same as in the spare parts book. A Bus obviously could not fit the tool kit can.

Can one of you Blaupunkt experts tell me if this is a period piece in my '64?

11/08/02 Thom That is a Blaupunkt "Frankfurt" and would be period correct.
11/08/02 Tom Mink It's definitely the correct era. However, those are 56-66 Ghia knobs.

Had chance for couple of doors with popout hinges on. So what the hell. Handy ventilation as cooker hangs on left door.

3/4 roof rack I am building
Last month I made a SC rack and enjoyed it so much that I decided to make a 3/4 roof rack. My welding is so crappy thatI am spending a lot of time grinding. Next project is to build a full length one with the correct bends and style. Looking to sell a couple if any one is interested

11/22/02 Chris Starke I had the same problem when I made my SC rack. A friend told me to braze the joints. They turned out bitchen-very smooth and no grinding. It is actually easier than welding and just as strong. Try it!
10/01/02   what's the price going to be for the full length?

South African cooling air scoops/ducting for dusty conditions South African cooling air scoops/ducting for dusty conditions

Here's another cooling system for single cabs in dusty climates. Unlike the Aus system of scooping air above the windscreens and ducting it under the load bed to the engine compartment, this sytem features "ear" scoops each side of the cab, with similar ducting under the load bed to the engine. Note how two cab rear panels have been used back-to-back to make a hollow duct for the cooling air. I have only seen this system on two pick-ups, both assembled in South Africa and both 1967 models. I don't know when single cabs were first assembled in SA, but earlier models were imported fully built up.

09/28/02 Tom Mink It's especially interesting because a "normal" '67 singlecab would have had a full-width rear window.
