Here's some accessory foglights that are available at a reasonable price from Unity - these puppies go for upwards of $200 on ebay for some reason.

Roo Bars Roo Bars
Harding European
http://www.harding.au.com
Basically a Roo Bar (sometimes called a Bull Bar) is there for front end protection, used against pesky Kangaroos that can make a nice mess of the front of your splitty. They also come in handy for mounting the spare tire on (for more sleeping space in back), as well as hanging the trusty water bag upon. Usually Wombats tend to go underneath the car, but the larger ones can cause heater box & muffler problems as they come out the back. Tasmanian Devils, Platypus, Echidnas normally pass beneath, but the Echidna is known for doing major tire damage. Brown Snakes, Tiapan's etc are best dispatched with a quick pull of the handbrake at 40mph plus (not wise at lower speeds as I have seen them get flicked up & stuck under the car, this can make them a little angry). Emus can tend to jump at the last moment, sometimes coming in through the windscreens, or causing strange claw like scrapes when sliding down the side of the bus. But nothing saves your bus from a front ender with a Roo or Wallaby better than a good ROO BAR.
Found on a lot of split window buses here in Australia, pictures taken are of one of the "nicer" types, which has not taken down many roos. Spare wheel mount is optional.

Basic construction is from galvanized pipes, the lower two arms being 44mm OD, 5mm wall thickness, whilst the upper tubes are 34mm OD, and slip into the lower tubes. The brackets attach without welding, bolting to the shock tower & front bumper brackets for strength. (this one pictured was offered by dealers in the 60's, but there are a zillion home made versions around). You poor Americans will have too work out the non metric sizing, and catch up with the rest of the world (how do you do any work on a VW without Metric spanners & vernier callipers etc?). Hopefully the specifics will be seen in the photo's, please email for any other details.
