What are these wheels? What are these wheels?
Thom
I de-tired and sand-blasted 5 wheels today in preparation for painting and installing new tires. It wasn't until I was getting ready to paint them that I noticed that 1 wheel was different. Hmm. Turns out, that wheel appears to be *normal* and the other 4 are different. The have more negative offset than the others. All 5 are marked 4 1/2K Even more interesting is the fact that they were a yellowish-orange underneath some generic rattle-can black. They also have a very pronounced KPZ (KronPrinz) logo. I got these in the big Rio Linda junkyard sale.

Just another test angle. I cut a little too aggressively on the top bar - WTF was I thinking? Oh well, while I have the welder out...

Just another test angle. I'll have to lift up on the seat pedestal when I got to weld, as it dropped slightly without the support of the wall.

Close! I'm going to lay a simple bead up along the large seam. Nothing fancy.

More test fitting. I removed the check strap rod to give myself some elbow room.

Heres the hole you end up with; I'll make a plate to fill it.

I ended up separatating the driver and passenger sides, which will make handling the sections easier. I cut on the inside of the big raised seam that joines the inner 'wall' of the compartment and the middle and outer sections of the seat pedestal. It is this middle section that is specific to a walk-thru - the outer is the same.
