This is all the same bus over 5 years of changing it. It's slowly changing colors again this year as i find time to grind and prime it. She just got a new engine this spring and also a new 69 Squareback brother! I friggin love this bus. People still call me a hippy and it pisses me off but I'm cool with it i guess. I'm a surfer not a hippy garshdarnet. PEACE !

Here are some pics of my second splity...one pic was taken at a Padi (rice) field. On the other pics, you can see the island of Penang in the background. Penang is located in Northwest Peninsular Malaysia. When i bought the bus, I thought it was a 15window, only a week later did I find out that it was actually a 23 window! Sometime in the past, someone had welded the sunroof and skylight. The search is on for a sunroof assembly to restore it to its former glory!... Do you know of anyone who re-manufactures the whole assembly? Drop me a line... Keep those VW's alive!

Hello all, I found this 1959 doubledoor on the samba.com last year, the bus whas located in Cottenwood California.The seller told me that the bus sat in a field for more than 25 years. I made a good deal with the seller and he towed it for me to the shipper in LA. After waiting a while and already searching for parts finally the bus whas in Rotterdam in The Netherlands. I found the automobile registration card of the last owner in it, they were around the steeringpipe and the year 1971 whas on it. The bus whas full whit wasps and mous nests and other DB. On the speedo I could read only 48300 miles, and I could see on the condition of the bus that it only has been used for about 10 years, there is now wear on the rear torsionbar rubber parts, also the front axle is as new wen I removed all the sand and clay. Most of the original parts were still on the bus exept the seat, gearbox and engine. I found an engine in The Netharlands correct for this bus and also the gearbox. afcource I need to do some weldingwork, but it`s not to bad. Some body made 6 camperwindows in it and that is a hard thing to get that perfect as original. It whas a big risk to buy it from internet but I`m very happy with it. In a couple of years this bus will be a great driver

Here is a 1967 Logo van I bought in Den Haag in June 1972 on a 3 month camping trip around Europe. Genco A/C contractor work van was like new with 6ok km on speedo. Some rust from Holland winters I paid $600 us for it and drove it with my bride to be all over Europe and Morroco. Shipped it back to SoCal. for $300. abd drove it for another 8 years till finished Grad school when I bought a 914 2.0, Sold the van for $1500. People used to pull me over with stories of seing this van all over the country and Europe. What they no doubt saw were other Genco logo work vans. A lot of people thought it was a logo for gay men which was a good laugh.. I did see one other Genco logo van with same paint scheme but it was a Baywindow van. Also years after selling it to a surfer dude I was driving through Palms Springs and loking down a side road saw the distinctive painted van crossing a street about a block away. I chased it down to find an old Dutch house painter who bought it as a work van and was just about to paint it all one color! Go figure what were the odds of catching it at that moment!
