Finally finished with the air cylinders and it works way better than I hoped it would. 3 wheelin in my driveway with stock suspension.

fitting all this in there was the biggest challenge. Need to narrow the beam some more.

pics are'nt to clear but you can see the lever bracket at the end of the cylinder. The cylinder pushes out 5" which pushes down on the lower arm 5". Tube with hiem joints from lever to lower shock mount not installed yet.

11/27/03 jeff simmons I narrowed the beam 4" to get the tires back inside, but when down on the ground they do not turn. I'm trying to come up with an easy way to get some turning radius out of it.

I just wanted to share my project bus, a 1957 23 window with anybody interested in doing the same to theirs. I'm lowering it to sit on the ground, installing disc brakes with wide 5 adapters, (which means I had to narrow the beam 4 inches), and installing air cylinders. (air bags)

11/11/03 Jeff Simmons The headaches I'm refering to is all the trial and error involved in a project like this. I normally build drag race cars, and this is quite a stretch in the other direction. Plus when I started this, I could'nt find any info anywhere I looked.

Yup, a guy from LA named Jeff just bought a bus up here in Sacramento, then brought it by my house for a pre-flight inspection to LA. Topped off the trans fluid, checked the oil, filled up the tires, replaced a fuel line, and picked him up a spare fan belt and away he goes.

I've known Jeff for about 25 years. Normally, I don't get involved in *&^% like this, but in this case, I've got to tell you, you're all way off base...

Post 4 - Believe me, he's on the right team. I've got stories (and pictures)...it ain't pretty.
Post 3 - Good call. You're on track.
Post 2 - The only terror Jeff ever invokes is after eating cabbage or beans.
Post 1 - If you think this guy is the enemy, you're smoking something illegal. You might want to try a few years in a uniform, looking down the barrel at our real enemies (like Jeff and I have). I think you might wind up with a different perspective on who our real enemies are.
