Just an idea I came up with the other day after seeing the tricked out shorty bus at OCTO (which had a 2.0 liter engine and nitrous oxide). I figured, what would the cops use to catch that?? This would have a the same engine set-up, plus a smart suspension that lowers and raises the bus based on speed and terrain.

This time made slope in back less prominent, added feature of fuel-cell technology and 4-wheel electric drive with 4-wheel steering. Also features leather interior and joystick control for driving/steering.

06/12/02 Greg Schumsky Thanks! For the illustrations, I used Illustrator and a little bit of Photoshop. For the 3D rendering, I used Hash Animation Master. If I get the time, I'll render and post some more shots of the bus.

I came up with this design after having seen some of the work attempted by VW on the first Microbus that Ben Pon had sketched. I was intrigued by the model they made that was very streamlined. This brought me to study some work by Buckminster Fuller and his Dymaxion car. This design is essentially a cross between the two, incorporating some new and old, yet very classic, design styles and technologies. This can be seen in the gull-wing doors, which are hinged along the beltline, allowing them to fold. This provides headroom, some cover from rain when entering or exiting the vehicle,and the ability to open the doors in normal to semi-tight parking spaces. The design also incorporates the classic microbus look, along with semaphore turn indicators, quartz driving lamps, and the classic dual windshield. Also, not seen, the bus would incorporate "wind" rain wipers- forced air that would keep the window clear during wet weather driving.

This is a design a came up with at the end of 1999 for what I thought the new Microbus should look like. VW saw it also, and as much as they liked it, they couldn't use it due to my not being a VW employee.
