I bought this ceramic piggy bank of a 1967 split window bus on Ebay in 2000. It's a surprisingly accurate model (except for the spelling of VW, of course).

04/28/08 Chris Hobbs The shirt is by Paradise Found. You can find used ones for sale on Ebay from time to time. Also comes in a dark background.

Both printed Dec 66. The beat-up one on top came with my doublecab; pictures and text are based on the "VW Delivery Van" (i.e., panel van). The mint one on bottom I bought, and is based on the "Volkswagen Station Wagon". I have never seen another copy of the top manual.

Popular name for the L- shaped deflector bracket for the doghouse cooler. Important for keeping the cooling air going through the cooler, rather than around. Named for famous VW guru Bob Hoover.

The curved ears face towards the dashboard. It has 2 screw holes (at top, not shown) to attach it to the dashboard, which correspond to screw holes in the bottom lip of the dashboard, underneath the grill opening. Accepts a round 6-inch speaker.

All stock, excellent original paint and interior, 2nd engine. I'm 3rd owner, brought it to rural northern Virginia from Grass Valley, CA. Rare vehicle for the mid-Atlantic states, where more than 4 split window Type 2s at a VW show is considered a great turnout! Got it's nickname from the solid throaty roar when the engine revs up.

My stock 1967 doublecab at the Sept 2000 Manassas (VA) Bug Out. I am 3rd owner. Original pearl white paint and grey basketweave upholstery, still almost like new. Truck has 106K total miles. Runs on 2nd 1500cc engine with 009 dizzy and 30-PICT-1 carb. Dash came with original deluxe bus clock which still keeps correct time, and I added '60s Blaupunkt Emden III radio with correct speaker bracket. Originally purchased from the famous Econo Motors in Riverside CA, where first owner had dealer install Empi steps, 2nd dome light, and battery access door. I replaced original wood runners in bed with correct reproduction set. Now all I need to find is a set of tilts and bows.
