Here is another South African Fleetline Kombi, spotted at the Vortex festival in Grabouw, New Year 2004. Fleetlines were VWSA throwbacks assembled in South Africa in 1975, one year only, from Brazilian knocked-down kits. Three versions were made: 15-window Kombis like these, panelvans, and a wide-bodied single-cab pick-up. They were sold alongside 75 baywindows as budget models. These were probably the last splitties built anywhere in the world.

Why are baywindows evil? Obviously the website is "vintagebus.com" so I can see why there wouldn't be any technical information for Baywindow bus' but I think that Baywindow bus' have more to do with Volkswagen Bus' in general than Porche Targas with giant racing fins!

i can't believe that people still post baywindows even after being told not to as well as being told to get into the hearse. a quote from the rules... "Please submit only pix of split-window buses. There are other sites for hosting other VW pix." i love this site, but it is getting dirtied up. Thom needs to step in and start deleting posts. this one too if necessary. just stop with the baywindoze please!
