I was on the trip to High Country Bus Festival VII yesterday and snapped this picture at about 5:30 in the morning. It turned out a lot cooler than I thought it would.

07/14/03 Ed Pull it out of the mud, take it home, and get ready for the horror of "rust free".
07/10/03 Andrew Aside from that rear trunk lid, there's no rust on the body or pan (aisde from a few spots of light surface rust).

07/13/03 Sam Andrew, From the FU it looks like you may be a Furman Alumni or in the Upstate. I live in Easley and have a 1969 911S that I've put in over 2000 hours of restoration (still not done).

I eventually would like to get a late 60~early 70 VW Bus. I learned to drive a stick on my dad's VW Bus. I nearly took out a chained link fenced learning to shift and clutch! Ha LOL.

Burned '66 13-window Burned '66 13-window

One year and two days ago(6-28) my '66 13-window went up in flames. The brass fitting into the carb was loose and came out on the way home from getting dinner for everybody. Check and replace your gas lines regularly and check that brass fitting! This bus has since then been sold and partially restored.

12/07/07 Sharon Lyon This could almost be our 71 VW camper,which my husband stripped out the screw to the oil pan, trying to change the oil. From then on it leaked oil and probably got ruined. I can't remember what happened to it.
06/24/03 kevin hinds I was almost home and the gas pedal went to the floor when I pushed down on it with no drag and stayed their when I had lift my foot up. (melted return spring) I started smelling smoke then I could see it coming out of the heater ducts. I look in my side mirror and somke was billowing out of the air scoops.
I was so lucky, I was on a hill and my house was at the end of it. I was able to roll down the hill to my house and and put a garden hose to it. I had to replace everything not made of metal. It was a bitter sweat thing. For the next 2 or more years (no kidding) I found my self looking in my side mirror for smoke coming out of air scoop. The fire was started by the brass fuel line neck falling off the carb. A year or so later I found the brass fuel line neck on the fuel pump was loose and saved my self lots of gref, big time. Odd's are I would not be so lucky next time. SO IT PAYS OFF! KEEP AN EYE ON IT!

I've had the bus about three months now, and finally snapped a (few) picture(s) of it(rest coming soon). It's a '58 Panel Bus that has almost no rust, runs like a champ, but has so many hack jobs on it, it makes you sick. Hopefully they'll all be fixed soon though.

A group picture of my three Volkswagens, the one in the garage is a '69 Beetle that I'm rebuilding the engine on. The one on the left is a '66 hardtop Deluxe that had an engine fire about three months ago, it's now for sale as a restoration project. The one on the right is my newest, a '60 European Beetle with 69k original miles(and semaphores;^).
