This is an old family picture. My father bought this bus from a customer, used, in the early 50's in Los Angeles. I've compared the photo to others on this site and can see an antenna, and rubber bumper molding. It was red and black, but my dad painted the roof white as it was too hot inside. Any help in identifying the year?

it must be a'52 than it has upward mirrors and the doortopvents are pianohinge type.

Here are my 2 Loves! My Wife at first of course, and she shares with me the love for our vw 67 bus, This Picture was taken on a nice trip on 22 Jun 2008, from Tijuana B.C., Mexico, to the beach of San Quintin B.C. Mexico. stayed for 2 nigths there camping, I will show you more nice pictures of that trip later on, i'm planning on create a web page, allready have a suggestion for the name of my Bus, it's name will be "GREEN BEEN" lol well, I like it lol, but i'm open to suggestions. In San Quintin there's a nice Rv camp called "El Pabellon" we satyed there, bring mosquito repellent and food, tha's all, u have hot showers and is peace and calm. see ya! :) by the way. congratulations to my friend Steve, on the publishing of his coolest book " vwcampercookbook com "

My Work
These are original from the factory "Diesel Kombis" they are build in 1981 and 1982 and they have that strange "front radiator" for cooling the engine. They use to work in very hot temperature, so the engine dont last longer. The VW stop de production because of it, but a lot of people stil use them to work as you can see in the pictures. I had not see any of these with colectors or museum, only in work, so the engine its not so bad. Here in Brazil the Diesel is cheeper than Gas thats wy they try these engine for a couple of years.

12/28/04 DON 'The Emissary' SERIBUTRA Some of these were sold in Mexico and were usually driven into the Southwest U.S. by Mexican nationals. I have seen a few pics of the Brasilian bus which is a mutant of 1950s body panels with the Bay Window parts.

My bus is build in 1973 and have little diferences, like that corner glass window, and here there ar no skylight windows set in the roof line, only in the early 59 models. My bus is all original from the factory exept for the shift hand detail, and the cigarret lighter (3 of them) instaled on the pure air intake on the roof - (what a bad job, must be removed), and the seat covers. Here there are not Safaris Windows also. That is a shame, because here is a very hot country. I start the restoration projet and i wish to find this Safari Windows to buy, but in Brazil is impossible.

11/30/04 Alexis Prappas Brazil is the only cowtry that still manufacturing Buses. as you can se in the site below. The Split war build until 1975, then came the Clipper.

My 1975 Fleetline being used for a photoshoot on a Cape Town beach, South Africa. Cape Town is a famous location for film and photo shoots. The Atomic Kitten video for It's OK was shot at the same location and features a 356 convertable and later on a quick shot of a Yellow Split Panel

Braveheart was filmed here at Fortwilliam, also my place of birth. Definetaly a place to visit. Oozing history with Jacobian hot spots where Bonnie Prince Charlie was very active. Lots of campsites with breathtaking back drops. FREEEEEDOM.....
